Hi, this is Jeff Podlasek with Toad for DB2 Development. In Toad for DB2 Version 5.5, we had an enhancement to further allow you to maintain your DB2 Z OS partition tables. We now support the alter table rotate partition state.
So for DB2 and Z OS version 10, if you select a table-- and you have selected a partition table-- I'll show you the definition of table I go through the Script tab, it's got several partitions, it's got some data in it. If you select that, right-click on it, and now we have a new option for action-- Rotate Partition. If you select that, a new dialogue will open up that will allow you to quickly and easily generate your Alter Table Rotate Part statement.
So what you want to do on this screen is you select the partition that you want to rotate. And then you specify new ending values for the new partition that will be created. In this case, it's very simple. But a real quick example to show you how we do this. And then you'll generate this statement.
You could see the Generate Statement is-- Alter Table, Rotate Partition-- first one. I selected the last, and then in with the new class, the new ending at class. So if I execute this, you'll see that the definition of my table's been updated, and the data's been modified. And now, you'll actually see the new ending partition.
So we're thinking that more and more people are using partition tables in Z OS Version 10. And this new feature should be helpful. Thank you for using Toad for DB2.
