[MUSIC PLAYING] Hi, and welcome to the third episode of the series "Continuous Compliance in a Chaotic World." My name is Tom Brainard, Product Marketing Manager at Dell Software. And I'll be your host for this series.
If you're watching this series, you already know that IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance, or GRC, play a vital role in the operations of most organizations. In the first episode of this series, we talked about the changing IT landscape and common IT GRC failures. And in the last episode, we went a little deeper and discussed what organizations can do to lay the groundwork for good IT GRC and why it's important to have a combined security and compliance plan.
In this episode, we'll talk about the challenges of meeting multiple compliance audits and how Dell's IT GRC solutions can help. Again, joining me today is Tim Sedlack, Senior Product Manager for our IT GRC solutions at Dell Software. Welcome back, Tim.
Thanks again for having me, Tom.
So are organizations finding it more challenging to maintain and pass audits. If so, why do you think this is?
Yeah, certainly organizations are finding it more challenging to maintain their compliance and pass these audits, as regulations change more often and encompass parts of your enterprise that you may not think about. Technologies like SharePoint and cloud are making compliance more difficult to maintain. And that's why you need solutions that encompass more of your environment and give you more real time results. So you can react in real time.
So the regulations are changing faster than the software?
In some cases, that is true. What's more likely is, services and user communities are taking advantage of new technologies that you need to be thinking about, for security purposes and compliance purposes. So if you're a software isn't keeping you up to date on what's changing in your environment in real time, you're probably at risk of an audit failure.
Well, that obviously leads to the next question. What Dell Software solutions offer assistance in meeting and staying up on regulatory compliance mandates?
So I know I mentioned in previous videos that we talked about the overall solution, the life cycle that we have at Dell Software, with products like Enterprise Reporter, that will assess your environment and tell you about users, groups, files, the resources you have to know where they're at today. Then there are solutions like Change Auditor, that will tell you in real time about changes happening across your environment in real time, so you can take action, be more secure, and be more compliant. And solutions like Recovery Manager, so that when-- God forbid-- the worst thing happens, you have the capability to roll things back and get back up in a timely manner and back to business.
OK. Well, how about reporting?
Well, that's a great point, Tom. I mentioned Enterprise Reporter. That gives you the capability to provide on-the-spot reports for many of these compliance situations, as well as many of the security questions that your security team has.
And are these reports in a format that are easy for, let's say, HIPAA auditors or SOX auditors to understand?
Good question-- one of the things we really strive for is to deliver auditor-ready reports, things you can hand to the auditors that provide them succinct answers to the questions they've posed, so that they can go away happy that you're in control of your environment.
Very interesting. Thanks, Tim. That's great stuff. So where can our viewers reach you if they have any questions or want more information?
Sure, thank you, Tom I can be reached at Tim.Sedlack@Software.Dell.com.
Great. Well, that's all we have time for today. Thanks for joining us, Tim.
