In this video segment, we're going to talk about recovering a file or a folder containing several files. So first things first, we need to cause the files to go missing. So let's go jump on over to our Exchange server, which doubles as a file server. We'll go to the Files volume. And we'll just pick a folder here. We'll take the Documentation and Instruments.
Now we need to recover them. I'm not using the Recycle Bin, so I can't obviously recover through that. So how do I recover those files?
Let me jump back over to the core. And what we're going to do is we're going to leverage the local mount utility. First things first, we'll open up another Windows Explorer instance over to the actual volume that we're going to restore.
The next thing, we'll just navigate down. You can see the missing folders there. The next thing we're going to do is we're going to go in and we're going to mount the I drive in just a regular standard read-only mount. That will pop open the I drive, so we'll just drag that over here.
Now I can go in here and you can see I have my Documentation and my Instruments folders. We'll just select those. And we'll drag them and drop them over here.
I've just performed a file/folder-level recovery. If I go back over to the server, you can see that I've got my Documentation folder. I've got my Instruments folder. They're back. So that's file and folder-level recovery using AppAssure.
