Jenkon's been in business for over 35 years, and we service the direct selling industry. And one of the exciting components of that industry is that there are 10s of millions of home-based business people selling and representing many products and services. Jenkon provides the software applications that power that marketplace.
We have a SAS-based application. That means we're hosting a great majority of our customers. The IT infrastructure that we now have in place is critical to making sure that that's robust enough, secure enough, and will scale well to beat our customers' requirements.
Security is very important to Jenkon because we are hosting our customers' environments. That means we are responsible for their data. I know for a fact my customers' data is very secure. It's safe, and we are protected from any intrusions. The previous systems we had were just firewalls.
They were not security devices at all. They only handled the firewall aspects, no intrusion prevention or intrusion detection. Some of the reasons we went to the next generation in security appliances is that they're all-inclusive. They are so easy to manage and maintain. You have to know networking, you have to know security, but you don't have to know specific coding.
So they can allow someone who knows and understands the security needs to manage them very easily. We can manage an entire secure environment with half the staff we would require for the older systems we had.
The reason I love SonicWALL is that even though that I'm Cisco-certified and know how to program a router and a firewall through command line, having the GUI and having it straightforward and having the automatic rules that you can build right off the bat-- the step-by-step-wizard-- it makes basically day to day a lot less hectic. Having a firewall that is not only robust and secure but, the most important, easy to configure and to support, is the number one thing in my eyes.
My entire team carries smartphones. And we love the applications that we get. We use the SonicWALL Mobile Connect app to connect into our servers, we check on the firewalls remotely. We can go onto the servers and do remote desktop onto the servers and actually manage them directly, as if we were sitting here.
The SonicWALL WAN accelerator is for all data that's not compressed. And so we move data between our data centers-- between the one we host and here. And on top of that we have LiteSpeed, which does compression of SQL databases. And it's phenomenal for transferring files of SQL. So that gives us the entire package of SQL and non-SQL transfers. Using the WAN accelerators has cut our data-transfer requirements 76%. That means that we can get more data transferred across our network with less bandwidth and less cost to us.
Dell came in and made us feel very personalized in the relationship and developed a very custom solution for us. That was something that we weren't getting with our prior vendors. And it made a real difference in our planning and our confidence in how we move forward as a business.
