Jenkon's been in business for over 35 years. And we service the direct selling industry. And one of the exciting components to that industry is that there are tens of millions of home based business people selling and representing many products and services. Jenkon provides the software applications that power that marketplace.
Our customer base is truly all over the world, on all major continents. And so our application has to be multi-national, multilingual, and multi currency. IT infrastructure is a critical part of our business. Because we have a SAS based application, that means we're hosting a great majority of our customers. So capacity of the IT infrastructure is a major issue for us. And consequently the investments we've been making here this past year have been scaling for the growth that we've been experiencing, and most importantly for the growth in the years ahead.
The fact that all the systems are Dell, and the software is Dell, they've been pre-tested and they've run before, so that when we put them in place we know that we aren't spending a lot of time trying to do integrations between disparate systems.
It's just an amazing accomplishment that we can manage and maintain this environment so cleanly with a small group. This would take two or three times the size of an IT department that we have here.
Our software has to run on mobile devices, and the applications we purchase need to run on mobile devices. The mobile apps that we have from Dell give us a great leg up on competition to be able to manage things remotely.
One of the major benefits of the new state of the art environment is that our developers are no longer waiting for files be transferred to their systems so that they can be developing quicker. That's a great advantage for the developers and for the business so that our development costs go down.
The customers benefit from faster time to market for our latest products and our latest changes to it, as well as our ability to grow to any size that they need. If a customer were to go from 1 terabyte to 20 terabytes in a month, we could handle that in our new environment.
The greatest advantage of this entire new environment is that I can guarantee five 9's. I have the capability now with these new systems that I know they're not going to go away. We have redundancy built in. Even our firewalls, we have duplicate of every single system.
The biggest benefit of our new environment is holistic. We have great benefits from the systems, from the monitoring, the servers, the storage arrays. And these all combine together to allow us to go to market faster with new products. Our software is out there quicker. We can provision servers for customers much faster than we could in the past. And we can scale them however dynamically the customer goes.
Dell came in and made us feel very personalized in the relationship, and developed a very custom solution for us. That was something that we weren't getting with our prior vendors, and it made a real difference in our planning and our confidence in how we move forward as a business.
