Welcome to Dell vWorkspace 8 Feature Spotlight. My name's Andrew Wood, I'm a technical product specialist. I'm here to show you a cool new feature. This new feature is called the session timeout warning, so what I'm doing here is opening up my properties of my website and just setting the timeout to two minutes, so that it doesn't take me so long to demonstrate the new feature.
Here's my website. I'm going to log in, so I can demonstrate the new warning message you get, instead of it just kicking you out when the time out's expired. It's actually going to give you a nice little pop up. So I'm gonna fast forward time a little bit here. I'm actually fast forwarding it by only a minute, and I'll show you why shortly. So, a minute later, here we get the pop up warning us that our session's going to expire unless we click OK to continue.
The reason it's only a minute later is because we give them a minute to answer that question. Add the two together, and I've reached my time out value. You want to give them more time to answer the question, open up the web.config file and edit the session timeout warning interval. That time is in seconds, so just increase that or decrease that as you wish.
And the web.config file that you need to edit is located under c, inetpub, wwwroot, and then your website name. So in my case, Dell. For more information about vWorkspace, visit quest.com/vworkspace.
