I would say we've cut our administration time in half easily. For perhaps what we were spending 10 hours in firewall maintenance with our previous solution, we would be lucky to spend five hours a week in the Dell SonicWALL solution.
RocketSpace is an accelerator for technology start-ups. We like to call it the unfair advantage for post-incubator, seed-funded technology companies. We take what would normally be a regular campus LAN and we put an intensive number of technology users in it, so people who are especially demanding on bandwidth, on availability, on reliability, on latency, and who want to be able to do absolutely anything under the sun without any kind of restrictions or impediments.
So we started out with the SonicWALL E5500s, a high availability pair, which have been fantastic. And then recently we just purchased a pair of E8500s for our expansion plans. The prioritization product in the SonicWALL platform far exceeds the performance that we were seeing with the Palo Alto product. We didn't have certainly the visibility that we have with the SonicWALL product. And we didn't have the level of granularity that we are using now and benefiting from every day.
The main issue for us with Palo Alto, first of all, the platform that we evaluated with them had some performance issues on the management interface, which when you're under pressure trying to diagnose or respond to a user on an issue is annoying at least. But the main thing for us was price point on the product. For us, the Dell solution represented a far better investment.
The Dell solution enables BYOD for us because it's totally platform-agnostic.
What's great about RocketSpace is it allows you to bring your own device. You walk into the site. You plug in your laptop. You plug in your iPhone. You plug in your iPad, Android enabled device. And guess what? It just works.
It gives us flexibility and room to be unique and to be creative and to do the things that we need to do for our business and for our customers.
We have 500 people within the building. And they all have maybe a desktop, a laptop, perhaps two, a tablet, a cellular device. So our environment is 100% BYOD. There's nothing except that.
What absolutely blew me away about the Dell SonicWALL product was the manageability of it and the feature set that we got with no questions about licensing add-ons, or capacity add-ons, or anything like that. It was a simple proposition that absolutely did everything we needed right out of the box. The system just worked. And that was beautiful for us.
