[MUSIC PLAYING] The University of West Alabama is located in Livingston, Alabama. We have about 2,200 students on campus and 2,500 students online.
We've been with Dell for over 13 years now. One thing that's been beneficial for us being a total Dell customer through various different product lines is the ability for us to call in a support case and Dell is familiar with all the different product lines that we have and how they work together.
In the past for our back up, the products we used were backing up to disk and then were backing up to tape. And we were only capturing data, not the actual operating system. So we look for a solution that would give us a little bit more flexibility.
The Dell AppAssure product allows us to back up not only just our data, but our operating systems and our applications for a full back up and recovery. When we went to Dell AppAssure, we were able to back up more data and use less actual storage space. We're seeing upwards of 50% savings on disk space.
Using the Dell AppAssure product we've estimated that we're able to recover either files or systems five times faster than we did in the past with our previous product.
To recover a file or an email message with Dell AppAssure, it's as easy as taking a snapshot. So recovery went from several minutes minimum to several seconds. We have had to restore several of our SQL databases and Dell AppAssure made that very easy for us to do and to date, we've had 100% success rate.
The University of West Alabama is constantly looking for ways to do more with less. So having Dell there to help us is really beneficial.
